Specialty Areas Include:
Tics
Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) has now been recommended as a first line treatment by the American Academy of Neurology for Tourette Syndrome and other chronic tic disorders. CBIT benefits adults with a long-standing history of tics as well as children and adolescents with a more recent onset. Telehealth services have been shown to be as effective as in person treatment and our therapist, Karen N Harmon, is now licensed in Colorado, Oregon, Utah and Maine.
ADHD/Executive Function Disorder/Sluggish Tempo
A variety of tools are used to improve the ability to efficiently complete required tasks throughout the day. Compensatory strategies are developed, along with remediation through neurofeedback and sensory integration techniques when indicated.
Sensory Processing and/or Developmental Delays
Differences in sensory processing and/or development delays may impact school performance, home activities (e.g. bathing, chores, brushing teeth), or the ability to engage in leisure activities such as birthday parties, crafts, or playing on the playground equipment. A variety of engaging activities and techniques are used to address the identified areas of need.
Mental Health
Anxiety, depression, and OCD can all impact the ability to engage in everyday tasks. Individualized programs are established to assist each client in achieving their desired goals and develop lifelong strategies for managing mental health fluctuations.
Additional Areas of Expertise :
Academic Challenges, Autism, Behavioral Concerns, Concussion/trauma, Emotional Regulation, Chronic Pain, and Social Interaction Difficulties
Guiding Principles
At Three Pines Therapy we provide individualized pediatric, adolescent, and adult therapy services that aim to support each person’s unique needs. We believe in the importance of working with other professionals who are involved with our clients and are happy to take a team approach with Primary Care Doctors, Teachers, Counselors, School Therapists, and other health care and educational professionals. We also believe in the importance of family, and other support people, in the success of any therapy, and work to include them where appropriate. We believe in respecting the rights of each client (and parents/guardians) to help direct the formation of the therapy goals and priorities.
